Hello! My name is Alaina Fairbanks. I recently graduated from Emporia State University. This is my first teaching job! I am so excited to be here and I can't wait for all that's to come.

Here's a little bit about me: I was born and raised in Shawnee, Kansas. I grew up participating in just about anything you can think of: dance, gymnastics, softball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, track, band, church groups and more. I love sports and activities! I am the oldest of three. I have a younger sister, Brianna and a younger brother, Chandler. I also have two dogs I grew up with, Jake and Brody. And of course can't forget my sweet parents :)  My family is a big part of my life and they are extremely important to me. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it weren’t for all of their love and support.

When I graduated from high school (Mill Valley High School) I moved to Emporia, Kansas where I attended Emporia State University. I was already in love with health and fitness but it wasn't until I went on a mission trip to Haiti my sophomore year at ESU that I fell in love with teaching. I got to spend days with children teaching them, playing sports with them and loving them. It was then I decided I wanted to be a physical education and health teacher. At ESU, I was a member of the track team. I competed in pole vault. After spending years competing I can't imagine not being a part of the sport and I would love to coach athletes in the pole vault one day. I also competed in Olympic weightlifting (clean and jerk and snatch) for a year at Emporia State University. Other organizations I was a part of at ESU include: Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Chi Omega, Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and Health, Recreation and Physical Education club. I graduated in May 2015 with a degree in physical education, health education and coaching.

Other than sports I have lots of other hobbies as well. I love being outdoors. I enjoy running, bicycling, fishing and more. I also enjoy trying new recipes and finding ways to make food healthier. I love nutrition. I enjoy reading, organizing, playing board games and trying new things. Put me up to a challenge and I will love challenging myself to complete it. I am so excited to be a bulldog and I can't wait to teach what I love!
