I began teaching Family & Consumer Sciences at ACHS in 2018. Prior to that I spent a few years as a substitute teacher in addition to being a consumer journalist covering baby & family. My additional duties at ACHS include FCCLA chapter adviser, Career & Technical Education Coordinator, and junior class IPS coordinator. I’ve been part of the Bulldog Booster Club for 9 years and am currently serving as president. Email: hcorley@usd365.org

  • Morgan Sumner elected District H VP of STAR Events
  • Aly Young placed first in the state, STAR Events, level 2 Professional Presentation

2021-22

  • Morgan Sumner elected District H President

2020-21

  • Mya Miller & Claire Hasty elected to district offices
  • Mya Miller (gold, Say Yes to FCS) & Hannah Corley (silver, Professional Presentation) qualified for national STAR Events competition 
  • Morgan Sumner, Braxton Weide, Mya Miller, & Hannah Corley qualified for state STAR Events Competition
  • National Skill Demonstration Events Competition – Claire Hasty (2nd in the nation, Hospitality, Tourism & Recreation Challenge) & Mya Miller (3rd in the nation, FCCLA Knowledge Challenge)

  • 8 students qualified for national STAR Events competition after placing in the top 2 at state – Mya Miller & Morgan Edens (gold, Event Management), Hershyl Corley (gold, Professional Presentation), Morgan Sumner (Silver, Hospitality, Tourism, & Recreation), Molly Comfort & Avery Sumner (silver, Sustainability Challenge), Lexi Modlin & Claire Hasty (bronze, Interpersonal Communication)
  • National Leadership Conference in Washington DC was moved to virtual platform due to COVID-19 pandemic
  • State STAR Events qualifiers – Maya Corley (gold, Sports Nutrition), Orra Lutz, Jerni Farmer & Athena Jones (bronze, Sports Nutrition), Abby Tucker (bronze, National Programs in Action), Danika Metcalfe (bronze, Career Investigation)
  • Out of 18 ACHS district STAR Events Competitors, 15 qualified to advance
  • National Fall Conference in Dallas – Morgan Edens, National Champion, Hospitality, Tourism, & Recreation Skill Demonstration Event
  • 35 students and adviser traveled to Ottawa for District H Fall Leadership Conference
  • 8 students traveled to Manhattan for Kansas Take Aim Conference

2018-19ACHS FCCLA FLC 2018

  • 3 students and adviser traveled to Anaheim, CA for National Leadership Conference. Carly Hicks sang the National Anthem at opening session with 8,000 attendees.
  • Kansas STAR Events – Emily Adams (bronze, Leadership), Kaitlyn McClain, Braxton Weide & Amie Wiesner (bronze, Chapter Service Project)
  • 9 students and adviser traveled to State Leadership Conference in Wichita
  • 9 students presented projects for district STAR Events competition in Emporia
  • 31 students traveled to Ottawa for District H Fall Leadership Conference
